At the beginning of class the students completed the bellringer. Then we completed a Beowulf anticipation guide to help the students get in the mindset of some of the problems the character of Beowulf faces. Next we read "The Coming of Beowulf" pgs. 44-48 and answered the study questions (except question 9). Lastly I assigned the Boast assignment and read my sample boast to help them understand the task. Boasts are due on Friday. They can be presented in class on Friday for bonus points!

At the beginning of class the students completed a bellringer. Then the students worked in partners to come up with ways to associate their final Beowulf vocabulary terms with their definitions. The partners shared these out with the entire class. Next the students read "The Battle with Grendel" on pgs. 49-51 and answered the corresponding study questions.
