TEACHER WORK DAY - NO SCHOOL

At the beginning of class the students completed a bellringer. Then I went over the instructions for the Macbeth essay assignment. Essays will be written in class on Thursday and Friday this week. Final drafts due Monday! Then the students were given a few minutes to begin brainstorming ideas for their essays with a partner. Afterwards I gave a lecture on how to write the introduction paragraph of a college English essay.

At the beginning of class the students completed a bellringer. While they worked, I checked their introduction paragraphs. Afterwards the class finished the powerpoint notes from yesterday and we discussed how to write body paragraphs and how to write a conclusion. I modeled how to write an effective body paragraph on the board for the class.

At the beginning of class the students completed a bellringer. Then I gave a sample completed response to literature essay. Together in pairs the students identified the different parts of the body paragraph that they learned about yesterday. After this exercise, the class began rough drafting. They copied their introduction paragraphs and then wrote one body paragraph.

At the beginning of class the students completed a bellringer. Then they were given the class period to finish their Macbeth essay rough drafts. Rough drafts were due by the end of the class, no exceptions. We will edit and complete final drafts on Monday.
