Today the class took The Awakening timed write. If they had any time left in class they began copying the AP literature terms 4. I also collected their copies of The Awakening and distributed the copies of our next book Hamlet. I gave out the reading schedule and the reading log assignments.
HW: Read Hamlet Act 1 scenes 1 and 2 by Thursday. Complete 1 log for each scene.

Today we were on a shortened schedule due to the Veteran's Day assembly. The students continued copying their new vocabulary terms (see yesterday)

At the beginning of class I collected the Hamlet Act 1 scenes 1 and 2 logs. Then we reviewed the AP literature terms 4. Lastly, I gave background notes on Hamlet.

Friday, November 13th, 2015
Today we looked at Claudius's opening speech on 1.2.1-39 to reveal his character. Then the students began to read and annotate Hamlet's "sullied flesh" soliloquy in 1.2.129-159 in partners. We discussed this as a class. Then we watched the "sullied flesh" soliloquy in 2 different films and discussed the pros/cons of each director's choices.
