At the beginning of class the students took the AP Literature Terms quiz 2A.  Then I explained how the Oedipus fishbowl assignment would work tomorrow.  The students took notes on the Elements of Drama.  These notes were in lecture format, so if a student missed class today, he/she needs to get the notes from a friend.
HW:  1.  STUDY for "Death of a Salesman" Act 1 quiz TOMORROW
2.  Be prepared for "Oedipus" fishbowl discussion 

Tuesday, September 29th, 2015

At the beginning of class the students reviewed for their "DOAS" Act 1 quiz while they nominated girls for HC court and I handed out class t-shirts.  Then they took their quiz.  We ended the class with the first half of our fishbowl discussion on "Oedipus".  Group 2 will discuss tomorrow.
HW:  1.  Group 2 prepare for "Oedipus" discussion
2.  Read "DOAS" Act 2 by 10/6.

Wednesday, September 30th, 2015

We spent the 1st 20 minutes of class finishing our "Oedipus" fishbowl discussion from yesterday.  Then I explained how to use the SIFT method to analyze short works of fiction.  Lastly the students read "Eleven" and analyzed it using the SIFT method.
HW:  1.  SIFT analyzation of "Eleven" due TOMORROW.  Be prepared to discuss.
​2.  Read "DOAS" Act 2 by 10/6.
SIFT METHOD WORKSHEET:​  Given in class on 9/30.  Will be used all year long.

Thursday, October 1st, 2015

At the beginning of class  the students were given 10 minutes to put their SIFT analysis of "Eleven" into paragraph form.  Then they broke into small groups for a discussion on the story.  Afterwards they began working on a practice multiple choice section in their small groups.
​HW:  1.  Read "DOAS" Act 2 by next Tuesday
2.  STUDY for AP Lit. terms quiz 2B on 10/6

Friday, October 2nd, 2015

At the beginning of class I went through a powerpoint to help the students understand the expectations of the multiple choice section of the AP exam. Then they continued to work together in small groups on the practice multiple choice section.  With 10 minutes left in class we began going over the correct answers and explaining them.
