At the beginning of class I collected the summer reading assignment. Then I gave out the AP contracts which we discussed, and the students were able to ask questions. Next I went over expectations for the class and procedures in my classroom. Afterwards I showed the students my teacher website and they had the option to sign up for text message reminders regarding both my class, senior information, and SGA. Then I gave out copies of "Oedipus the King". Students are to read pgs. 154-210 by August 26th. Lastly we had a class discussion about the students' questions, fears, excitement, etc. concerning the course.

At the beginning of class I collected the signed parent contract forms. Then I went over the school code of conduct slides. Next I handed out the syllabus and answered any questions the students might have. Lastly we did a small group activity where the students looked at the differences between AP Language prompts and AP Literature prompts.

Today I gave out background notes on the story of Oedipus that the students are reading outside of class. I drew an elaborate (and not so artistic) cartoon on the board to show the progression of the story from beginning to end. Once we finished, I began giving notes on Greek theatre.
